Let the Sound Take You Away

Wind Chimes have been used to capture the pleasing sound of the wind for a long time and are one of the most used tools in feng shui for improving the movement of energy. The vibrations produced by wind chimes have a calming effect on the mind and a soothing effect on the mind, body and spirit. Listening to wind chimes also creates a sense of balance in one’s life, and is reported to relieve fatigue and encourage listening, creativity and upbeat feelings. Wind chimes are traditionally hung outside on a porch, deck or balcony, and can also be used as indoor home decor in a living room or to add an accent to a kitchen window. Many people hang wind chimes in their bedrooms to enjoy their relaxing sounds.

Variations in tone are used to create a specific atmoshphere for different occasions, and Music of the Spheres wind chimes allow you to select your desired sounds. You can listen to an online sample of ten unique tones including; Pentantonic, Chinese, Quartal, Mongolian, Aquarian, Hawaiian, Balinese, Japanese, Gypsy, and Whole Tone. I was listening to a sample of the Japanese chimes while writing this article, and I was enjoying a peaceful moment until the phone rang and ruined the mood! As it turned out, it wasn’t even for me. I’m still getting used to the fact that my children are growing up and when the phone rings it’s usually for one of them!

Another instrument that is used to create positive engery is the gong. They have been used as a percussion instrument for thousands of years and remain in use as a unique and powerful healing therapy by thousands of people around the world to focus meditation and promote healing. The Chinese gong can be used indoors or out to create a restful atmosphere. It is often said that the sounds of gongs wash over you like waves. This is an effect that many people have tried to recreate over the years, but nothing compares to the feeling that you experience when you take a moment to relax and let the vibration of the sound waves wash the stress out of your body.

The Power Within

Sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health. The dictionary defines ‘harmony’ as ‘congruity of parts to their whole or to one another’. ‘Health’ is defined as ‘the state of being bodily and mentally vigorous and free of disease’. Crystal Singing Bowls can play a vital part in restoring the balance of body and mind. Crystal bowls range in size and pitch, with larger bowls producing a sound that will reverberate longer and lower. Explore the power of nature with Crystal Singing Bowls.

The Calm Technique

What comes to mind when you hear the word ‘meditation’? Many people think meditation involves participation in a religious ritual, or that it requires certain beliefs. Others think of sitting in the traditional cross-legged position with their arms out. Well, hopefully this book will change all of those preconceived ideas.

Paul Wilson, founder of the Calm Center in Sydney, Australia, travels the world teaching others the art of meditation without magic or mysticism. As I read his book The Calm Technique, I realized that it’s harder than I expected to clear your mind. I learned that if I’m thinking about not thinking, then I’m still not in the meditative state.

You may be pleasantly surprised that you get more out of this book than you would have imagined. It may help you learn to be more positive, sleep better, work more effectively, have an increase in mental awareness, and a greater capacity to cope.

While the technique is simple, it does take more practice than I was expecting. However, I believe that when you find something that can have a positive impact on your life using a natural, drug-free method that does not require you to change your lifestyle in any way, and only takes about thirty minutes a day, it’s definitely time well spent.
